Indy or Indie?

So here is something I've been wondering of late... Indy or Indie? When Ben and I decided on this name, we talked about it. I voted for Indie and Ben voted for Indy. I thought Indy was girly and Ben thought Indie was too emo. And since I was big and pregnant and didn't really care anyways, Indy it was. But lately I've been wondering, should we switch to Indie? It seems so much more... hard-core/naturesque and hippie that it makes me happy. Indy/ie will be learning to write his own name soon, so now the debate goes on. What do you think? Indy or Indie?

I also spell it Indie. (You know all the times that I put his name in my phone as a reminded . . . "Watch Indie and Fisher") So I vote Indie.

And Joe says Indy.

John says to spell it I-N-D-E-E. LOL! But honestly, I think it's up to Indy when he's older. (I know that doesn't help you at present, sorry!) My older brother Zachary has always gone my "Zack." My mom originally spelled it "Zach" because that was the spelling in his full name. But he wanted it with a K so that's how he spelled it when he got old enough to care, and how he spells it to this day. But it's just a nickname, it's not like it legally matters how it's spelled. However, from a pronunciation standpoint, (and thinking of future friends and teachers who will be reading his name), I-N-D-Y might be easier because there is NO other way to pronounce it; it's simply in-dee. I-N-D-I-E might be construed as in-dye or in-dee-ay. So I guess I'm with Ben. He's Indy in my book. :0)

For the sake of him learning how to spell his name I would go ahead and teach him Indy. The letters are easier for a smaller hand to learn. But as he gets better you then show him how to spell his name, the full name, then eventually he will spell his nickname as he starts to learn phonetics in spelling. Tony forever had just decided his name was spelled Tone because of the ee sound on the end. Let the little hampster be the one to figure this out. hee hee

Indiana Jones is spelled "Indy" in the books, so *of course* that's my vote! :)

I hate to side with my brother on this one... but teach him how to write Indiana... and as for cutting it short, Ind(y) is more manly than the (ie). To me, (ie) softened a name for a girl.

I also vote for Indy! (I think it's more manly too!) The costumes are awesome - Indy looks adorable, and Ben doesn't even look like Ben (great costume!!) Glad you got to dress up and have some fun! :)

Oh, I almost forgot - I'm in shock that you actually liked FISH! See what you've been missing all these years...(you have to TRY it before you decide if you like something or not!) Spoken like a true mother, eh?
